Planetary Remote Sensing Overview
Planetary Remote Sensing usually refers only to remote sensing of planets other than Earth in our Solar System. Data used from planetary remote sensing has been used to gather such information as...
This links to The first page of NASA's Planetary Remote Sensing Tutorial. This provides astounding amounts of information on work done in remote sensing, along with miniature quizzes to test your knowledge and learn information about the subject area.
This
page was created as a research guide to planetary remote sensing. The
links provided give excellent information on the topic of planetary remote
sensing, and where you can go to find other information.
A Chapter on Planetary Remote Sensing involving Geology This page is a compilation of research on the Cornell University Website. Center for Earth and Planetary Studies The web site's own description is - "The Center for Earth and Planetary Studies (CEPS) is the scientific research unit within the Collections and Research Department of the National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution. CEPS performs original research and outreach activities on topics covering planetary science, terrestrial geophysics, and the remote sensing of environmental change". The web site provides links to both research and images. A paper on NASA's website describing detail's of Atmoshperic Remote Sensing Data and how it applies to the possibility of finding life forms on other planets. This is the homepage of a workshop done in 1997 through the USGS on the topic of remote sensing of planetary ices. Some of the content of the speeches and papers that were covered during the program are still available on this site. University Department Research.
Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology provides an expansive list of researches venues including both inner and outer planetary research. Brown University Planetary Geosciences Group at the Department of Geology provides links to a variety of planetary research projects. Department of Electrical Engineering Research at Stanford has done research involving remote sensing data from Mars Missions and the Galileo mission to Jupiter.

The University of Arizona website contains mostly Mars research done through the Department of Geology.
The University of Pittsburgh Department of Geology and Planetary Science does not appear to have a lot of information on the website, but there is an expansive variety of resources for information.
Washington University, St. Louis
The Washington University in St. Louis Home page for Planetary Remote Sensing appears to be more involved with geologic work and land rovers on Mars than with interplanetary remote sensing, however, it could still be a very useful site.
All satellites links link to the appropriate page on NASA's jet propulsion laboratory web site.

A page listing links to other planetary image facilities through the C.E.P.S. website. This appears to be a fairly comprehensive list.
Jet Propulsion Laboratory Photojournal
Website containing a vast collection of planetary images produced through various methods including remote sensing. Maintained by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

My name is Michelle Novak and I am a senior at Salem State College pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Cartography and G.I.S. This page was created as a final project for GGR343, Remote Sensing in the Fall of 2001. I have chosen this topic due to an interest in cartographic techniques of other planets, and a desire to do further study involving cartographic mappin
