IKONOS

The IKONOS satellite was launched on September 24, 1999 from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. It can capture 3.2 meter resolution multispectral images and 0.82 meter resolution panchromatic images. It is also used by media and motion picture industries to show aerial views around the world. The operation life of this satellite is 7 years. It orbits the Earth at 681 kilometers and travels at 7.5 kilometers per second. It revolves around the Earth 14.7 times per day. The bands used in the sensor are panchromatic, blue, green, red, and near-infrared.
